Woodbridge Varsity defeated Long Beach Poly 10-0 on Wednesday as three pitchers combined to throw a shutout.
Junior Jack Bunnell earned the victory on the hill for Woodbridge Warriors Varsity. He lasted four innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out eight and walking one. Junior Lachsan Ramanathan and Senior Mekhi Wright entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.
The Warriors Varsity got their offense started in the second inning when Bunnell tripled, driving in two runs. Senior Danny Vasquez drove him in on the next play.
Woodbridge tallied another three runs in the third inning.
Isaac Richardson took the loss for Long Beach Poly. He surrendered six runs on five hits over two and a third innings.
WHS racked up ten hits on the night as Senior Matt Spear went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the Woodbridge attack. Junior Jaden Hoang-Tieu, Vasquez, and Bunnell all collected multiple hits as well.
The final game in the Newport Elks Tournament is on Friday vs. Cerritos. It is another night game starting at 6:00 and will be played at Ryan Lemmon Stadium.
