With at least a share of the PCL title in hand, the Warriors needed to win one of the remaining two games against Beckman to clinch sole possession of the title.
That goal was met with today's 1-0 pitchers duel at Ryan Lemmon Stadium. Senior Jack Bunnell went the distance in a 4-hit shutout performance with 11 Ks, including striking out the side in the 7th to nail down the win. Jack moved to 5-0 on the season with a 0.94 ERA and 61Ks in 44.2 innings.
Jack helped himself by collecting two hits including a double and drove in the only run of the game. Junior Sean McCance started the game off with a single and stolen base to get into scoring position.
With the win, WHS raised its record to 20-3 on the season. There is one game remaining, tomorrow's at Beckman.
It's the third League Championship in WHS history and the first since 2016.
Woodbridge will be watching on Sunday as the CIF brackets are announced. We will have updates when the schedule is set.
