Woodbridge took the lead late in the game in a 5-3 victory over Cerritos on Friday. With two outs in the bottom of the sixth Senior Grant Martine singled on the first pitch of the at-bat, scoring Senior Danny Vasquez who tripled to lead off the inning.
Cerritos scored three runs in the first inning, but the Warriors still managed to pull out the victory. Alex Manibusan and Edgar Lorenzo all drove in runs fo Cerritos in the frame.
Woodbridge knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the fifth inning, when an error scored one run for Woodbridge Warriors Varsity. The Warriors put up four runs total in the inning and never looked back. The offensive onslaught was led by Junior Luke De Vries and Senior Jakob Trestik, who each had RBIs in the inning.
Junior Lachsan Ramanathan earned the victory in relief. He allowed three hits and zero runs over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six.
Evan Vazquez took the loss for Cerritos. He surrendered five runs on seven hits over six innings, striking out four.
Senior Max Montplaisir started the game for Woodbridge. He allowed one hit and three runs over two and a third innings, striking out three
Martine went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Woodbridge Warriors Varsity in hits.
