Warriors' Senior Jack Bunnell tossed a complete game shutout allowing Woodbridge to grab sole possession of second place after the first leg of the PCL schedule.
The win was Bunnell's third of the season and extends his scoreless innings streak to 16 2/3.
Bunnell also went 2-for-3 at the plate. Runs were provided by Senior Connor Tallakson's fourth-inning double, driving in Bunnell, and a two-RBI double by Senior Ryan Kato in the sixth. Both key hits were done with two outs. Senior Luke De Vries added the other hit and scored on Kato's dagger double.
The shutout was the second in a row for the Warriors and third on the young season.
The final games of the first leg of the PCL schedule are complete and the standings have Laguna Hills on top at 6-0. Woodbridge is next at 5-1 followed by Beckman (4-2), Irvine (2-4) & University (2-4), and Portola (1-5) & Northwood (1-5).
The next leg of the PCL schedule begins Tuesday for WHS as they host Northwood with a 3:30 PM start.
